Finnish education system is one of the best in the world according to the opinions of many world countries. The WWII aftermath and the great depression made Finland to make a decision whether to continue living in misery or start working hard and become successful. Because of hard work, Finland managed to climb to the top as a role model for the developing countries. Teachers have an important job of transferring their knowledge to the new generations, and to become a teacher, one must put a lot of effort and energy, especially because teacher faculties are highly selective so only the best of the best manage to enrol there. Formal education starts with kindergarten and preschool and depending on ones ambitions it can last until the end of college. In Finland, the teaching profession is considered prominent and teacher education faculties are highly selective so only a small percentage of the candidates manage to become teachers. The reason behind this selectivity is the aspiration to get quality, successful teachers so the Finnish students can continue to get high scores in international examinations. Several elements are taken into account, such as the candidates previous school success, national matriculation results and extracurricular activities. Besides that, teacher education faculties organise additional examinations that include interviews, examinations in different subjects and group tasks in order to observe the candidates knowledge, skills and abilities that are desired in teaching profession. In order to maintain the quality of the education system, Finnish education policy make new agendas that will be implemented. Education policies in teacher education are made to ensure enough teachers in order to maintain the quality of education and further development of teacher education as well as continuing teacher education throughout their careers.
