sposobnosti, obiteljskih i romantičnih odnosa, i slično.
ekonomskom, kulturalnom i društvenom situacijom, posebice onom feminističkom. Glavni cilj
romantičnim i obiteljskim odnosima, osobnostima i sposobnostima. No, iako Disney donekle
mijenja svoju ustaljenu formulu, ipak se u pojedinim filmovima suvremene faze i dalje nazire
pozadina tradicionalne patrijarhalne ideologije. |
Abstract (english) | This thesis focuses on examining the evolution of Disney princesses, primarily in terms of their
visual representation, but also various other aspects such as personality, abilities, familial and
romantic relationships and the like. The analysis of the evolution of the princess began with the
first ever Disney princess, Snow White, who belongs to the Domestic Era, through Ariel from
the Era of rebellious and Ambitious Princesses, all the way to the latest independent and
freespirited princesses, such as Elsa, Anna and Moana. The analysis was carried out in
accordance with the prevailing economic, cultural and social situation, especially the feminist
one. The main goal of this paper was to analyze the transformation of the Disney princesses of
the contemporary phase, while focusing on the princesses from the films Frozen and Moana, in
relation to the princesses from earlier phases, where, on a more particular level, it was
questioned whether the latest Disney princesses evolved in terms of their physical appearance,
relationship dynamics, their personality and abilities, or this change, ultimately, was not
significant, and Disney, even in the contemporary phase, still adheres to its archetypal,
traditional matrix. Also, this paper analyzes the impact of these personality changes on
empowerment, especially of women, and on challenging gender stereotypes.
Through a close examination and questioning of the depiction of princesses from Disney films,
paying special attention to contemporary ones, while relying on various theoretical ideas, a
positive progressive evolution can be observed in the visual representation of princesses, as
well as in their romantic and familial relationships, personalities and abilities. However, even
though Disney changes its established formula to some extent, the background of traditional
patriarchal ideology can still be seen in certain films of the contemporary phase. |
