Abstract
Ovim se radom iznosi argumentacija kojom se kriterij verifikacije in principi nastoji obraniti kao adekvatan kriterij smislenosti od prigovora koji zaključuju suprotno na temelju nemogućnosti kriterija verifikacije da učini smislenima opće sudove. Cilj je pokazati da verifikacionistička semantika, koja počiva na principu verifikacije, može uspostaviti smislenost svakog općeg suda koji kvantificira nad beskonačnom domenom na način da takve sudove interpretira kao definicije a ne činjenice. Jednako tako ovaj rad analizira i problem verifikacije općih sudova koji kvantificiraju nad potencijalno beskonačnom domenom i općih sudova koji kvantificiraju nad konačnom domenom s nepoznatim kardinalitetom. Svojstveno rješavanje tih izazova počiva na analizi i eksplikaciji epistemičkih pretpostavki verifikacionizma. Odnosno na eksplikaciji i definiciji empirističkih stavova koje verifikacionistička filozofija nužno pretpostavlja.
Abstract (english)
This paper presents an argumentation that tries to defend the criterion of verification in principle as an adequate criterion of meaningfulness against objections that conclude the opposite based on the impossibility of the criterion of verification to make general judgments meaningful. The goal is to show that verificationist semantics, which rests on the verification principle, can establish the meaningfulness of any general judgment that quantifies over an infinite domain so that it interprets such judgments as definitions and not facts. This paper also analyzes the problem of verification of general judgments that quantify over a potentially infinite domain and general judgments that quantify over a finite domain with unknown cardinality. The proper solution to these challenges rests on the analysis and explanation of the epistemic assumptions of verificationism. That is, on the explication and definition of empiricist positions that verificationist philosophy necessarily assumes.
