Abstract
Balkan, geografski i kulturno nejasno određen dio jugoistočne Europe, koncept o kojem su promišljali brojni teoretičari, ali ga nikada u potpunosti definirali. Dok u pogledu jednih Balkan djeluje kao homogena cjelina, za 'druge' je to područje različitosti i raznovrsnosti u koje su putem medija upisani razni simboli, značenja, kulturni kodovi, vrijednosti i stereotipi. Glavna tema ovog rada je odnos percepcije i samo-percepcije Balkana u filmovima, odnosno njegova načina (re)prezentacije. S najvećim fokusom na razdoblje od devedesetih godina prošloga stoljeća pa sve naovamo, uzimajući u obzir i širi kontekst, cilj rada je kroz usporednu analizu filmova, kako onih nastalih pod palicom stranih tako i onih nastalih pod palicom balkanskih ('domaćih') redatelja, kritički pristupiti te detektirati razlike i/ili sličnosti unutarnje i vanjske percepcije.
Abstract (english)
The Balkans, a geographically and culturally imprecisely determined part of Southeast Europe, a concept thought by many theorists but never fully defined. While in terms of some, the Balkans acts as a homogeneous entity, for 'others' it is an area of variety and diversity, in which various symbols, meanings, cultural codes, values and stereotypes are inscribed through the media. The main topic of this paper is the relationship between the perception and self-perception of the Balkans in the film industry, id est its ways of (re)presentation. With the greatest focus on the period from the 1990s onwards, given the broader context, the aim of the paper is to critically approach films through comparative analysis of films produced by both non-Balkan and Balkan directors, and detect differences and / or similarities between internal and external perceptions.
