Abstract
This B.A. thesis contains translations of short texts of different genres from Croatian into English. Each text is preceded by a brief introduction to the source text and followed by the commentary and analysis section where issues and difficulties that were encountered during the process of translation are described. There are four different translations in this thesis: translation of a medical case report from the official journal of the Croatian Society of Surgery, translation of a political article from a weekly magazine, translation of a scientific article from an encyclopedic magazine and translation of an article from a website about music. The introduction provides a definition of the word translation, describes the approach to translation adopted in this particular thesis and lists language guidelines that were used. The main body of the thesis is comprised of the translations and analyses. In the conclusion, the topic of this thesis is once again briefly discussed, and a personal reflection on the process of translation is given. The source texts can be found in the appendices.
