Abstract
Ovaj se radi bavim društveno-ekonomskom ulogom Marvelovih franšiza u filmskoj industriji. Specifičnije rad nastoji objasniti kako je Marvel postao kulturni i globalni fenomen te koji su čimbenici utjecali na to. Prije samog istraživanja, iznesena je sama povijest i nastanak superheroja pa kasnije i Marvel Universa. Fokus je na njihovoj transmedijalnoj strategiji koja je integrirala priče i likove Avengersa na različitim medijima poput stripova, televizije i videoigara. Rad ispituje kako je ova transmedijalna povezanost proširila bazu fanova, povećala angažman i generirala dodatne prihode za Marvel Studios. Nadalje, istražuje trenutnu gledanost filmova, posebno blockbustera, pokazujući snagu filma kao medija u popularnoj kulturi. Danas su blockbusteri jedan od glavnih razloga zašto su kina toliko posjećena, te iako ne mora nužno značiti da će svaki film doživjeti uspjeh, postoji balans u zaradi. Dakle naglasak je na Marvelovim franšizama u kontekstu popularne kulture odnosno kako Marvel utječe na društvo, ekonomiju pa i samu filmsku industriju te im neprestano donosi profit.
Abstract (english)
This thesis deals with the socio-economic role of the Marvel franchises in the film industry. More specifically, the work tries to explain how Marvel became a cultural and global phenomenon and what factors influenced it. Before the actual research, the history itself and the creation of superheroes and later the Marvel Universe were presented. The focus is on their transmedia strategy that integrated Avengers stories and characters across different media such as comics, television and video games. The paper examines how this transmedia connection has expanded the fan base, increased engagement and generated additional revenue for Marvel Studios. Furthermore, it explores the current viewership of films, particularly blockbusters, demonstrating the power of film as a medium in popular culture. Today, blockbusters are one of the main reasons why cinemas are so visited and the cash registers are never empty. So the emphasis is on the Marvel franchises in the context of popular culture, and how Marvel influences society, the economy, and even the film industry itself, and constantly brings them profit.
