Proposed research will explore the relationship between school leadership and school culture, in the process of school democratisation. It is based on the present knowledge that school leaders have significant role in the process of school change. According to that, the overall research objective is to determine the correlation between democratic school leadership and democratic school culture in the perception of the elementary school teachers. The purpose of the research was to determine in what extant is perception of elementary school teachers about level of presence of characteristics of democratic school leadership connected to their perception of level of presence of characteristics of democratic school culture. Used methodology was quantitative, and the research was conducted with the elementary school teachers who fulfilled questionnaires with two instruments: Instrument for measurement of characteristics of democratic school leadership (designed for the research) and Instrument for measurement of characteristics of democratic school culture (taken over by Spajić-Vrkaš, 2016). There were 651 elementary school teachers from Zagreb and Zagrebačka Region involved in the research. According to the teachers’ perception, principals in Town Zagreb and Zagrebačka Region are implementing moderate to many characteristics of democratic school leadership (M_ sum=4.16; SD_ sum=0.723). While talking about school culture characteristics, the perception of teachers is that there is a moderate level of democratic characteristics (M=3.74; SD=0.586), and a little less, but still significant level of authoritarian characteristics (M=2.75; SD=0.599). Finally, the research has determined statistically significant high positive correlation between teachers’ perception of level of presence of characteristic of democratic school leadership and level of presence of characteristics of democratic school culture (R=0.625; F(5,501)=72.85; p<0.001).
