This paper focuses on the research of the role of nostalgia in the context of contemporary consumerist consumption practices through the optics of fashion, fashion trends, and their associated phenomena. The theoretical basis for this paper was provided by an interdisciplinary view of fashion through its various functions, starting from its indispensable role in the contemporary consumer industry, being an important agent in the Debordian definition of spectacle culture, through with a unique role in the construction of identity and a medium of communication. Fashion trends are an essential part of fashion, that is, the fashion industry, and in this respect they are one of the main carriers and perpetuators of consumption. In today's context and the ubiquity of social networks, influencers are an indispensable point in the relationship between fashion, fashion trends and consumption, an increasingly present part of the modern marketing wheel whose main role is to stimulate consumption itself. In this paper, nostalgia is viewed as one of the tools for encouraging (emotional) consumption within the framework of capitalism. The aim of this research paper was to investigate the correlations between fashion, fashion trends (including social networks and influencers), and nostalgia, and to examine how and to what extent it affects the emotional aspect of consumption. Among other things, it showed that nostalgia in fashion and fashion trends today is present to a large extent, and is unquestionably connected with one's own youth, but also with the youth of parents/caregivers, or rather the period that arouses the most positive emotions in a person. Also, one of the conclusions was that influencers play an important role in the perpetuation of nostalgia. A more general look at the research points to the conclusion that nostalgia as such is integrated into capitalist logic as another mode of encouraging consumerist practices and is actively used as a tool to encourage emotional consumption.
