This paper explores the history of photography and its connection with anthropology along with a special focus on family photography. Photography, as a medium that captures moments and emotions, plays a crucial role in contemporary society. From an anthropological perspective, photography is viewed as a tool for documenting and analyzing cultural practices, customs, and family structures. Family photography captures important moments and strengthens the sense of unity and identity within the family. The sociological perspective of photography further enriches the understanding of its role in society. Photography is used as a ritual, especially in family settings, where it records significant events and creates emotional bonds. The consumption of photography, including speech, commercialization, reproduction, storage, and archiving, are also important aspects of this thesis. Through the photography analysis of Marit de la Vera and Alfonsus Šibenik, as well as the manor in Lipa, the paper provides a deeper insight into the connection of photography with anthropological and sociological perspectives. Photographs not only document important moments but also strengthen the sense of togetherness and identity within the family. They connect family members across generations. This thesis shows how photography, as a powerful tool for recording and communication, plays a key role in preserving the past, understanding the present, and building the future.
